Every project is unique but most follow this process.

Step 1: Development

Goal: To set the framework for your story

You begin by filling out a questionnaire with basic biographical information – important dates, family and friends, places you’ve lived, events you want to make sure to include, etc. Then, we will have a series of phone calls, zooms, or in-person meetings where you will be interviewed so that we can ask questions and dig deeper. Together, we’ll come up with the structure that works best for your personal story.

Step 2: Drafting

Goal: To turn your story into a book

Once our interviews are underway, we can begin to draft your book. This is a very collaborative process. We write a chapter or section at a time and send it to you for your review. This way, you can be a part of the process, offering corrections and suggestions along the way.

Sometimes, seeing a moment from your life in print can spark your memory and help you come up with other stories you want to include!

If you’ve selected the optional photo and/or testimonial section, we will work together to gather these materials and polish them so they’re book-ready.

Step 3: Bookmaking

Goal: To design and publish your book!

Once the manuscript is finished and you’ve had a chance to review it, it’s time to get it into book form!

All books are printed via the Barnes & Noble self-publishing platform.

We will work with you to choose a design that best meets your needs - for example, paperback vs. hardcover, book size, and ink color.

If you’ve chosen the package that includes cover design, we will work with you to create the perfect cover for your book.

Once all of these decisions are made, you will receive one sample copy. At this stage, you will have the opportunity to make any last changes to any part of the book. Once you have approved the final product, you will be able to order as many copies as you’d like.
